Twenty-five entries entered the event, and mechanical issues in his heat race forced Zach to utilize a series' provisional to start the main event in the 21st position, and he would retire in the opening laps to a 21st place finish.

Saturday evening found the team competing at their home track, Lone Star Speedway (Kilgore, Texas) as a $2,500-to-win race was held that attracted 18 entries to the 3/8 mile, clay oval. In the 50 lap finale Zach raced in the top five for much of the event before a late race flat tire relegated him to a 13th place finish in the final rundown.
